PROJECT
We were instructed by Chessington World of Adventures Resort in relation to the proposed development of a new themed land including a new roller coaster along with associated buildings, structures, landscaping and incidental works.
APPROACH
We worked with the project team to develop a layout, which responded to the needs of the Client. We built upon the evidence base developed as part of our work on other Merlin operated leisure attractions, and agreed a scope of evidence required to support a planning application with the Highway Authority.
We subsequently prepared a Transport Statement to support the planning application which demonstrated that the proposals would not result in a significant increase in additional trips to the site.
OUTCOME
Our Transport Statement concluded that the development proposals would comply with transport planning policy and that there were there are no highways and/ or transport related reasons for the refusal of the planning application. A positive consultation response was received from the Local Highway Authority and planning permission was granted, subject to conditions.
