PROJECT
Commissioned by the London Borough of Brent to provide transport advice relating to the consolidation of Stonebridge Primary School, Wembley.
The proposed development comprises three different elements;
- The refurbishment, expansion and consolidation of the existing Stonebridge Primary School from 600 pupils across two sites to form a full three form entry School with 630 pupils on the Shakespeare Avenue Site;
- The construction of 27 residential houses and flats and 28 New Adult Independent Living (NAIL) units in place of the decanted school buildings;
- The construction of 51 residential flats and 270 m2 GFA of open retail/ commercial space well as the associated highways works; and
- The construction of 22 terraced residential houses to the south of the main school.
APPROACH
Working as part of a multidisciplinary project team to derive a masterplan, assuring an optimum design in transport terms. We also worked closely with Brent Council officers to agree the scope and methodology of the transport strategy, helping to inform the requirements of the planning documentation.
The scheme will be delivered in two planning applications with a sensitivity test of traffic impacts to link them together. Part of the wider solutions involve further Travel Plan conditions whilst proposing to introduce staggered starting times and finishing times.
OUTCOME
The proposals were approved at committee and construction has been completed.
