TPA was instructed by Milford Haven Port Authority (MHPA) to provide a review and update of the Traffic Management Plans for Pembroke Port and Pembroke Dock Ferry Terminal.

APPROACH

TPA initial undertook a comprehensive site visit to understand the existing layout and future operational needs of the sites.

The Traffic Management Plan involved a safety review of existing vehicular and pedestrian routing throughout the site, highlighting potential points of conflict and the requirement for junctions, pedestrian safe routes and crossings on key desire lines and routes.

The review included swept-path analysis, a review of visibility requirements and the formalisation of vehicle circulation to prevent conflict, allowing for a safe and efficient use of space.

The Traffic Management Plan also included a review of site legibility for all users, through the provision of appropriate signage in key locations.

OUTCOME.

The Traffic Management Plan will be implemented by Milford Haven Port Authority. This will increase the safe movement of people and vehicles around the sites, helping to increase operational capacity to attract further business.
