PROJECT

We were appointed by Devonshire Dementia Care Home & Day Centre to provide transport planning support for the proposed redevelopment of 215 Malden Road, New Malden. The proposals south to provide an 18-bedroom extension to the existing care home with the access locations retained as existing, but the introduction of a one-way arrangement through the site.

APPROACH

We prepared a Transport Statement to support the planning application, addressing the previous highway reasons for refusal. We considered access, servicing, refuse collection, parking, cycle parking, highway safety and trip generation. Our assessment demonstrated that the proposals would generate a limited increase in vehicle movements and would not result in a severe impact on the local highway network.

OUTCOME

The London Borough of Kingston-upon-Thames Highways Officer agreed with the analysis set out within the Transport Statement and concluded that the proposals would result in a negligible impact on highway efficiency or safety.

Planning permission was subsequently granted, subject to conditions.
