PROJECT

TPA was instructed by Lambert Smith Hampton c/o Metropolitan Police Service to conduct a parking survey of the existing car park for Fulham Police Station.

APPROACH

TPA conducted the agreed parking survey in May 2015 for the 49 space car park used for Fulham Police Station with the results of the survey presented in a Technical Note.

The survey was carried out over a 24-hour period and it was discovered the car park was occupied at an average rate of 84% throughout the survey period, with the peak period recorded at 14:30 when demand exceeded the supply by 12.2%.

The observed peak and during the car park experiencing full capacity coincided with the final Premier League home fixture of Chelsea Football Club against Sunderland at Stamford Bridge, with the kick off time at 15:00.

The number of marked police vehicles tended, on average, to be parked for comparatively short periods of time (3 hours 30 minutes) with unmarked cars parked for up to eight hours.

OUTCOME.

The parking survey was prepared into a Technical Note for the Metropolitan Police Service detailing the arrival and departure patterns, peak demand and hourly occupancy of the car park over the recorded 24-hour period.
