PROJECT

We were appointed by The Arch Company to prepare Delivery and Servicing Management Plans (DSP) for Arches 164, 165 and 166, Southwark Bridge Road, Southwark. Each arch had secured planning permission for a change of use from a car servicing and bodyworks garage to flexible uses within Use Class E(a-d, g(ii) and/or g(iii)), with the DSPs prepared to discharge the relevant delivery and servicing planning condition.

APPROACH

We prepared separate DSPs for each arch, setting out the proposed delivery, servicing and refuse collection arrangements, vehicle access strategy, management measures, servicing trip generation and monitoring process. The DSPs confirmed that deliveries and servicing could be undertaken on site, with swept path analysis undertaken to demonstrate the movements were feasible.

Our assessment considered a robust servicing trip generation scenario and identified measures to manage delivery timings and reduce impacts on the local community, whilst minimising conflicts with staff and visitors. The worst-case servicing demand was forecast to be modest and capable of being managed through the DSP process.

OUTCOME

The DSPs were submitted to discharge the relevant planning condition and approved.
